get a flashlight and look behind those wires theres a barcode, its very hard to see but its there just keep trying, it took me like 10minutes to find it

On the 3rd gens the code isn't in the jack compartment. I checked it out on my moms 2002 X and came up short also. There have been other threads of people searching for it, but I don't know what they ever came up with.

It won't be there since you have a 3rd generation Explorer.. I believe it is on behind the passenger side C-pillar

Where is the C-pillar? Is that under the dash? I've checked under there because I heard something about that also.

It (by "it" I mean the code, not the C-pillar!) is located on some paperwork along with 2 extra remotes in a bag near your CSM. This is under the passenger side rear panel behind the rear passenger door. If you remove the panel you'll see the subwoofer unit, amp, and then the CSM toward the front of the mess of stuff. To get this large panel off you'll need to take off the seatbelt bolt, and other various bits of trim. The seatbelt bolt can be a pain since it goes through to the outside of the vehicle and is generally rusted over. Spray it down with WD40 and let it sit for a couple minutes, then work it back and forth and it will come out.

Its right behind your rear passenger seat..

Oh ok, I heard that it was under the dash too I guess not. I am not completely up on all my pillar names either. :D

Go with 02BLK_Limited, that's exactly where I located mine. Took about 10 minutes. It will be a five digit number on a white sticker. Good luck.

Do I look in the same relative spot (i.e. behind the passenger door) for my Sport?

In another one of these threads, someone mentioned locking/unlocking the car and listening for the relay clicking. I swear I hear mine coming from under the passenger side of the dash.

no, for the Sports it's in the jack compartment, at least that's where mine is on my 2001, and they didn't change anything for 2002.
