keyless entry codes

just bought a used 2013 Explorer with keyless entry. the seller did not have the code. I saw a ford company video on fordowner.com showing how to use both keys to get factory code.you are supposed to put first key in and turn on ignition. then remove key and insert 2nd and do the same. The code should appear in the message center. it did not. I tried several times. does anyone have another answer or know why it didn't work? Thanks

Look on the fuse box under the steering column. Should be a white sticker on it that has 5 numbers and and "L" at the end. That should be the door keypad code.

I used my smart phone as a flash light and the camera (photos) to get the code from that box under the dash.
