I disconnected the battery on my 1995 Sport because I had to reroute the trailer light wiring that was connected to the positive battery terminal. Afterwards, the keyless entry quit working, along with the door key pad. Theft light is also off.
I did try turning the ignition from off to run 8 times to no avail. I gave up on that and took it to the dealer. The service advisor looked up the procedure for my truck, and apparently the book said turn the key 5 times for my truck. That did not work either. He said to come back next week since most of the techs had taken the day off. I'd prefer to fix this for free or for no more than the cost of the RAP module.
I have not checked the code for the key pad on the sticker in the trunk. I will tomorrow, and see if it is different from the code the previous owner gave me.
I also checked fuse 28, which controls the anti-theft according to the owner's manual, and it looked fine.
Is it possible I fried the RAP in the process of disconnecting and reconnecting the positive battery cable? It seems unlikely to me, but I guess anything is possible. How do I test the RAP?
The power locks and everything work fine. Nothing else unusual happened. The battery was disconnected for maybe 10-15 minutes. The keyless entry and key pad worked perfect before this.
