How can I find out if my X is equipped with keyless entry?

Just bought it used, did not come with the tags my '00 F-350 has. However, there are no scratches on the lock areas of the unit so either the previous owner was REALLY careful for he had keyless.

Thanks for any help.

I believe your 94 is like my 93. Take off the Jack storage area cover (rear left side of cargo area). Actually look up the side of the Explorer through that opening (you're looking at the space between the outer "shell" of the car and the interior). The control module for keyless was mounted on the inside of that panel...almost even with the left side rear seatbelt...about a 6" silver square box. If you see nothing (as I did)..just an empty compartment, then you don't have keyless.

Mine is a loaded XLT..premium sound, etc but the dealership told me back in '93 Keyless was still an option that some people didn't want ????

I ended up adding it to mine. Found a great website, bought an alarm with keyless for $40 and been really pleased. You can email me if you'd like the info...

in 93 keyless was a dealer installed item manufactured by codeAlarm, in 94 factory keyless started becoming available but it was hit and miss because of production problems w/ the new system, how you check to see if you have it is to follow the programming guidelines

- turn ignition run or acc. momentarily jump pins in programming connector located in LR qtr panel area. all doors will lock then unlock to confirm programming mode, press any button on 1st transmitter (upto 4 possible), doors will cycle to confirm programming repeat for 2,3,4 transmitters. turn iginition to off and locks will again cycle to indicate end of programming mode.

basically - if the locks cycle when you jump the pins you have remote capability, if they don't you don't.

Thanks guys, I'll see what I can find out.

While having the rear panels off for some audio install stuff, I noticed my 91 EB has that silver box you mentioned. It has a LED light on it, and a heat sink on the bottom. I mentioned something on this list about it, and people said that it wasn't keyless because keyless wasn't available in 91. Could it be a dealer installed item?

you are referring to your 4x4 processor board..... big black thing with heat sink and led light.......

91's do not have factory keyless entry

Okay, that makes sense. Thanks. Nobody seemed to know what it was before.

What pins to Jump????

I was also told to do this but I wasn't told what pins to jump. Can anyone enlighten me as to where to find the connector and which pins to jump. My wiring is as follows. Wiring harness with two wries going to rear washer resevoir 2 gray 6 pin connectors male to female with a trailer wiring t-connector between them. I can find no other wire connectors. It is the same on my 94 Explorer also except the two wires and connector for washer resevoir is hanging loose, no rear washer.

PLEASE HELP!!!!!!
