I recently bought a 98 XLT, its loaded, it was used and when bought from the dealer ship no mention of keyless entry was made, I feel this vehicle may be equipted for it. How can I tell if it does have this option, what can I look for and how do I get a replacement remote? Thanks in advance

Keyless entry is made using a keypad on the driver side door. Remote entry is with those little clicker thingies (yeah, I know, not real technical :) ) that are also a key chain. Which do you mean?

My loaded '97 XLT has both - but I found the remotes under a seat a couple of days after I bought it last May. And the dealer was able to download the keyless pad code for me.

Do a search - there are couple of threads on this subject.

It will have either both the keypad and remotes, or neither.

If it has keyless entry, it also has the factory alarm.

the keyless entry I am referring to is the remote type with the key chain style klicker, How do I know if the vehicle has the option? What can I look for?

You can cycle your ignition 8 times (maybe 10) and if your doors automatically lock, that means you have it. By cycling, I mean going from the 'OFF' to the 'ACC' (not run) position. And you have to do it within 10 secs or something also.

moms98 - look at your driver's side door. Does it have have a keypad??? If no, see yob's post. If yes, see yob's post.

If you have a keypad, do a search of the threads for advice on how to get remotes.

LOL!
