So I received my KKM intake last Monday, and figured after I week I'd let everybody know how it's been since. Over all installation was easy, took maybe 5-10 minutes. As far as performance, I've notices fuel mileage has improved more than anything. My commute is primarily highway for about 7.5mi each way, instead of blowing through an entire tank in one week, I only used 3/4 of a tank. Not the most scientific data, but it works. Noise wise, it's just as quiet as stock,(I'm not a very aggressive driver) unless you need to pass, and get on it. As far as power is concerned, if there was an increase, it really isn't noticeable to me. I have monitored intake temps with my scan tool, and while driving IAT is only 2 degrees higher than ambient air temperature, it rises while at idle, but chances are it also did that with the stock intake, so I'm not going to worry about a heat shield. Luckily fall in Las Vegas means high 70s. So, useless info for most, but if someone is having a hard time deciding, maybe this'll help. I read a lot of comments about how the stock intake "is a cold air intake". True, but it's probably not as efficient as it could be.

im interested in what this does to the AFR because most intake kits cause a slight lean condition giving better mileage and the feeling of more power.... im only interested in a new intake because I could fit another battery in this location if the air box was not so large.... and I would gladly give up somethings for more electrical power

I've been monitoring short term, and long term fuel trim, as well as O2 readings, and haven't seen anything to suggest that it's running lean. Keep in mind that I have a V6, and unhooked the battery to reset the PCM. My Matco scanner is pretty cheap, and the data refresh rate isn't quite as fast as some more expensive scanners.

Not trying to be literal, but if your commute is 7.5 miles, primarily highway, twice daily, then we are talking 15 miles/day driving. 5 days a week is 75 miles. 20 gallons of fuel a week (22.5 fuel tank capacity) driving 75 miles is achieving like 3.75 MPG. How heavy of a trailer are you pulling thru those mountains each day?

Even if you were to actually drive 20 miles a day, 6X a week, thats 120 miles, then another 30 racked up on Sunday, thats 150 miles for the week. 20 gallons of fuel spent in 150 miles is an equally terrible 7.5 MPG.

My Sport Trac is a V8, 4WD, 18 inch wheels and weighs more than a normal Explorer SUV. If I keep it right at or below 65mph, I can get 24 MPG highway here on the open plains. EPA rated 15/21. And I've got like 150K miles.

I mean 17.5 miles. Sorry for the typo. That's just my work commute, I didn't feel it was necessary to breakdown my drive completely. Also this is only after one week of driving with varying temperatures, in a city with inconsistent traffic. So take the data for what it is, just my experience thus far. If I constantly trip the avg fuel reading I can get mid 20 in fuel range, but that depends on where I'm driving. I'd say in my case putting 240 miles on a tank with "77" left on the message center is an improvement on what I've had in the past. Once again. Just my experience.

I also have 128,000 miles on an 06 xlt
