I went out to a few of the auto shops around my house and asked if they heard about the KKM True-Rev, and no one did. Why is that? I've heard it is a good product and will increase performance by 10hp-15hp, among other stuff.

I heard about it from this website and I'm going to buy it. I know there are many posts about this product.

Where else can I order it other than the website? Or do I have to order it from the website?

Web only deal. You can ask people if they have heard of S&B filters and I bet you will get more people saying yes.

Quick,
I have a KKM in my explorer now and I have no complaints. But when I purchased it, I asked the guy the same question and he said that they are just a real small company...end of story. They only work through the one website and not through a catalog for the same reason. Anyway...thats just my two-cents.

Yeah... all they are are really selling is that metal plate they put on the S&B filter... Still, they are the only deal in town. They lied about it not bypassing any emmissions stuff though...

The KKM kit for my truck included the same (similar) parts the K&N kit would've. My kit (for the '96 EXP) did not bypass or modify any emissions.

Yeah.. thats prolly why K&N can make them for 95+... on my 94 it bypassed lots.

whats it bypass?

What does the KKM bypass on the 91-94? just says you have to plug a vacuum hose or something...thinking of getting it but...

I think what it bypasses is the EGR. There is a temp sensor in the airbox as well as a pipe that comes up to the airbox... you fail smog pretty quick.

So you are saying now that I have the KKM, I will fail the tests?

Guys, it's a freaking air filter...same thing you had before. I don't know what all this mumbo jumbo is about bypassing smog tests. K&N is certified because they spent the money to have someone certify it. KKM is a smaller company and can't afford to have it tested a certified. It doesn't change your MAS sensor so I don't know what you guys are talkign about.

It doesn't bypass any EGR or air temp sensors. It does however block one vaccum line. The reason it doesn't pass is that there is also a visual inspection along w/ the emmisions test. When you remove the stock air box, there is a heat riser that comes off the passenger side manifold. They say it helps atomize the air/fuel mixture. This causes it to fail the visual inspection. Here is the trick. Save yourself some money, and every two years spend the 20 minutes to swap in the stock air box for your smog test.

91-94 model years have a completely diffierent setup. Your Battery is probably on the driver side also. On the 91-94's, the battery sits where your air filter/box is and our air box is behind that. This is the main reason (heat riser) why K&N does not make one for pre 95 model explorers.
