knocking in front

i have been hearing a knocking in the front end recently and i just got the upper control arm replaced and there is still a knock in the front end. my guess is the stabilizer bar bushings. Is there a way i can check to see if it is the stabilizer bars. I thought that i could maybe just take them out and take it for a quick drive and see if it still knocks. Is this a bad idea? Can i drive without the stabilizer bar for a quick drive?

You will be fine driving without the sway bar. Heres a removal how to if you need it.
