i'm getting this knocking sound come from the fron drivers side wheel ever since yesterdays offroading session.

it didn't knock when i was on the road or i didn't notice it knock. but offroad it was knocking every so often in 2 and 4 wheel drive. i seem like ever time the suspension
topped out or moved it made a knocked.

it sure as hell didn't look like anything wqas hitting but who knows. and could it be that my alignment is out of true.?
or a wheel bearing or something.??

any ideas what i should be looking at.

Maybe a tie rod?

the tie rod is what steers the truck and that looks straight but i'm gonna keep on trying tro identify this problem.

bump.

the tierod may look straight, but you should have it checked out... its actually the outside balljoint of the tierod end that can develop play... i grenaded mine at thaven a few years ago.... it was still driveable, not noticeable to the naked eye, but sure enough was out... take it in for an alignment..ask them to check the tierods, rack and other suspension components as well

you said it seemed like it was only knocking if hte suspension was out of flex? maybe the tires were smacking hte fenderwells?

ok I think i found out what it is . the skid plate on my gass tank seems to be bent down from getting in contact with my driverside leaf springs and clanking when the truck flexs out so im gonna straighten out the skid plate so that ity doesn't hit anymore. and if it still makes noise. alignment time.
but i'm 70% positive that was the clanking.

i could en't really tell where it was coming from because it was raining and i had the windows up.

crazy stuff.
