Can you be more descriptive? Is the engine running smooth? Does the knocking change with engine speed or road speed, or for any reason? Are all of your fluids topped off?
Ticking is usually a lifter. Do you know what a mechanics' stethoscope is? Get a piece of wood about 18" long and while the engine is running hold one end against your ear, and touch the other end to various places on the engine. You'll be able to hear the ticking sound very well and the closer you get to the part thats making the noise, the louder (and clearer) it will be in your ear.
A stethoscope is indespensible when locating such noises.
