Krusty old shocks!

I took my old shocks off and replaced them with Monroe Sensatrack. The old shocks I had were SOOO bad (REALLY REALLY BAD is an understatement). I could push these things in like it was nothing after I took them off, and when they decompressed/compressed I heard a krusty and inconsistent sound.

I recommend a shock replacement to ANYONE who has over 65k miles on the stock shocks like me. Don't put it off like I did...jus do it.

As far as the Monroe shocks go, they are pretty good. I would recommend them for mid budget people.

Anyone else have old shocks like these?

My friend's jeep grand cherokee's shocks have huge blown holes in them. They still work alright...lol...I mean has anyone really seen some horrific shocks like those with holes in them or what?
I tried to offer him my old set (of shocks, if they even fit), but he says he will replace his eventually.

So you think I should prolly replace my rear shocks. They are the originals with 158k on them.LOL. Iv just been putting it off for a long time. And maybe it will help with the huge bouncyness of my rear end.

Nice 158k! Actually I forgot to mention that is was the front ones that were really crusty and in bad shape, my back ones are actually not too bad at all. If you want them audio, or anyone else wants them I could sell them for maybe $10.00 plus shipping for the pair (stock '99).

Just a thought.
I can get photos for anyone that wants them in a week.
I think it might have been the mud pit I got stuck in that really killed the fronts.
The back shocks are fine because the previous owner (my dad) was a road only type driver (grocery-getter). He has a third gen X with IRS now.

I'm currently attempting to replace my rear shocks, although the lower bolts are giving me hell. They have rusted to the metal sleeve that is inside the bushing and therefor won't slide out like they should. The sleeve is some hard metal too, I've tried a sawzall and it barely dented it before the blade dulled, andi've tried a dremel, with cut it pretty good but its too deep to cut all the way with that little blade. So now its off to Sears to get a high strength metal blade for the sawzall and also a die grinder just in case that doesn't work.

BTW, I bought Gabriel Ultra shocks... as soon as i get those damn bolts out I'll let ya know how they ride! Have to be better than the 110k mile shocks that are on there!
