Whenever I'm driving I press the pedal down then the revs will go up but then it will take a second for it to actually accelerate almost like it doesnt catch it or something

Sounds like transmission slipping.

Wouldn't you hear a bang though when that happens cause mine almost seems delayed

With it in gear, if the engine is revving but it isn't going anywhere, I would say that it's slipping in first gear. Any bang you might hear would be when shifting between gears, and would indicate to me that you have the opposite of slipping, which is a harsh engagement. From what I understand, a little slipping between gears is what gives you a smooth feeling shift.

All of these cars seem to suffer from an awful lag, we have drive-by-wire throttle, the PCM controls the throttle response via a servo. So it's not a mechanical response issue its the computer....I'm buying a X3 tuner and I'm hoping that it will eliminate the issue or at least help it some.

I have the lag issue when only the defroster is on and only from a stop top to first gear. All other gears fine. Anyone fix their problem?
