the ph2a is the metric one (aka motorcraft 820s).. the ph8a (or motorcraft fl1a) are standard thread (3/4 x 16 I think).. They aren't interchangable..

This is the only extra capacity one I've seen for the metric filter (820s equiv).

I don't mean to throw cold water on it...but...use the filter that is recommended. I have seen more problems from people interchanging filters..just because they screw on and the gasket is in the right place does not mean the guts are the same or the pressure capacity or anything else....usually a problem with bigger machinery...

Ok some times it is an easy long short switch..but be careful..filters are spec'd out for each application.
