How often should you replace leaf springs?

Typically.. never. Some people do if they have drastic sagging and they want to drop some bones on new ones.

Is it considered a problem if they get rusty?

I thought i had a problem with my leaf springs because the ride was getting kind of harsh on my 2001 xlt but it was a combo of things low tire tread left the heavier and stiffer suspension etc... im thinking about getting monroe sensa-track shocks in the fall which will soften up the ride a little bit, but as far as the leaf springs some people say lube them up so they can slide easier which may decrease the harshness of the ride which i have done, only with wd-40 which is a light lubricant and since leaf springs dont have any greese fittings there isnt much you can do....if you have a bad sagging problem take it to a ford dealer dont play around with mom and pop shops.

Depends, if its surface rust then no its not a problem. If its deep and you can brake chunks of the leaves then yes. However i have never seen that before.

....what does leaf springs have to do with Tires and Wheels?

my DS leaf is 2" lower than the passenger side....the warranty company will only cover the bad one even though you are supposed to replace springs in pairs.....but they are gonna cover my entire front end which is garbage on my 2000 eddie with 77k on the clock.....

my left rear side is sagging too! i'm thinking of swapping the right leaf spring with the left just to level the rear. Is there any shops in southern california that you guys would recommend? I'm thinking of doing it this weekend.
