car i bought saturday has an odd issue...last night, i started it up, let it warm up, idiling fine (had a missing electrode on spark plug when i changed them sunday)...while idling i hear something doesnt sound right...on the exhaust, about under the rear seats, theres what im guessing is a cat with a heat shield. inside of it, it sounds like when cooking oil starts getting hot, and you throw water droplets on it...possibly even like that missing electrode made it down there and is just bouncing around, but it doesnt sound like pinging, it sounds like boiling...its not constant, but its definitely there. then, theres liquid dripping through the holes in the heat shield. i put a piece of paper under it, its clear, and doesnt smell like gas or anything, but it definitely doesnt seem right. looked like it was smoking out the tail pipe, but could have just been from the cold. the liquid is coming from the tail pipe too...ive seen tail pipes dripping before, but should the cat be?

heres some ****ty cell video i tried to get some of the sound and where its leaking

TIA

That's your muffler not your cat. The water is normal. It usually comes out of the tail pipe.

Time for a new muffler.

its coming out of the tailpipe too

anything aftermarket you would reccomend that i can just unbolt right there at the flange before that and put something else in? not looking for anything loud/obnoxious. just something for an OEM replacement

thanks for the quick reply

I haven't a clue. I suggest calling an exhaust shop. It's not going to be easy to unbolt it since it's 13 years old.
