My shop has told me that my 93 X has a leaking radiator and water pump, but I never see anything on the ground when I park it, and the truck runs great, temperature is always normal. I was thinking of using some 'Barr's Leak' in it, what do people think of using this stuff??

i heard that using stuff in a bottle to seal radiator leaks, can lead to BIG PROBLEMS later

if its not leaking, and runs ok, it probably is ok,, someone eles can help me out i don't know too much about engines

Are you losing coolant?? If there is a product I would recommend its Bars Leak but its only a good fix for awhile. I was losing coolant and then my water pump started to weep so I knew that was my fix. No leaks at all yet. It might not be a bad idea to replace the radiator since it is almost 9 years old (unless you have).

Your water pump and or radiator can be "weeping" without actually showing a puddle of coolant on the ground. This is usually visible as a rust patch leading out of the drain hole in the shaft area of the water pump (underside) and as light coloured corrosion on the radiator (often around seams).

If you have this type of leak, coolant levels will go down very slowly and all else will seem fine. However, this means that the problem has begun and you are in for a failure in the not too distant future.

Products such as Bars leak will help put off the inevitable. I personally do not like using them as they can clog small water galleries or accumulate on temperature sensors. This can cause problems with our computer controlled cars for obvious reasons.

Take a close look at the areas I've mentioned. If you see the signs of leakage, start putting aside some cash and get the work done as soon as practical. Better than having to do an emergency fix later on.
