I have a '92 sport with the V6 and a stick shift. Runs like a top but it has leaked oil (pretty bad) for years. It's near impossible to tell from where the oil is coming. It was taken in to a mechanic in the past who stated that "you can't really stop those kind of leaks" which I know to not be true. It's just a question of how hard you want to work on it.

I am thinking of starting with replacing the valve cover gaskets, the oil pan gasket and any thing that connects to the valve covers that has a seal.

Any other pointers as to where this engine might be prone to have an oil leak?

TIA

Vavle cover gaskets would be a good start.Have you had the hood open and checked the leaks out yourself?

I have looked it over and its pretty much caked and soaked with oil and dust. A good cleaning is due and I will try to get it scrubbed well enough to see if I can see the fresh leak points. I have good feeling there are more than one.

I thought that (I am new with this vehicle) there might be some known leaky spots on the V6 from this year model that might make my search easier.

I am also gonna look at the various sending units.

Vavle cover gaskets are a bad spot on the first generation ex's
