I just bought 2 of the LPC-W2 license plate lights from superbrightleds.com and 2 24 led reverse lights from ebay. Before I install them is a resistor necessary to keep the lights from flickering? I would hate to install the license plates light and then have them flickering for days until the resistors come in.

If they do need resistors how difficult is it to find a place to mount them because there does not seem to be alot of space to work with..

those bulbs come with built in resistors, they are a plug and play item. You should only need to add resistors (with these types of bulbs) for turn signal applications where you are either not using a variable load flasher, or if your vehicle is equipped with bulb out warning devices.

good stuff.

have an 03. I have the factory STYLE LED tail lights and get compliments on them from over explorer owners. I just put in the hyper white LED tail lights- look blue really- and haven't had a problem. To the license plate bulbs- I have had significant trouble with them. My rubber surrounds that they plug into have almost melted and have poor connections which caused them to flicker and burnout prematurely. Havent been able to find a replacement part for them at autozone or pepboys.. but they shouldn't be a problem for you.

As a suggestion, I also bought amber LED bulbs for my turn signals and you should look into them as well. They didn't quite fit in the lense correctly so I had to sand them down on the sides and had to really force them in. They look nice though. I have clear corners and they aren't as bright as the origs. Never have had a problem with them flashing too fast (etc.).. Good luck

I just installed the license plates light and youre right, the rubber surrounds seem cheaply made and the housing doesnt even fit correctly where the old ones came off. they leave a huge gap in the hole that was originally there and now I have to find a way to seal that gap before water gets in. I would have went back to the originals if i hadnt already spliced the wires.. but it is a BIG improvement over the leds i have bought before that just flickered or burnt out within a week..

For my next lighting mod, i have been looking at LED taillight sets but I havent found one I am absolutely interested in so in the mean time I am planning to convert the interior courtesy lights to leds and possibly adding some led floor lighting as well. when i do the taillights i will do the front turn signals to leds as well but for now i have the clear corners up front with the chrome orange bulbs.

all my exterior lights save my headlights have been converted to LED and I couldnt be happier with them. Less load on the alternator, and seems more high class :D

In the process of soldering together boards for all the interior lights, I have ~300 bulbs, and ~50 of each in red green blue and amber. I figure I can do anything I want.

Balla- I really like my classic style led tails- which is why I picked it because it stands out quietly. classy look and distinguished (did I spell that right). My only regret now is not getting the model with the smoked reverse light. Didnt want it at first but now I think it might look a bit better (esp with my led reverse lights)
do you know what the technical name for the white rubber housing that holds the bulb- went to autozone and pepboys and they cant find one that will match with my truck... :-/ Next is to the dealership...

yea i would love to get the full led taillights but for right now i just picked up some of the led bulbs for the brake lights and hopefully my led reverse lights arrive from ebay soon.. if not, i also picked up some silverstar reverse lights to use in the mean time because the ones i have now are pretty terrible.

I dont know the name of the white rubber piece but i know exactly what you are talking about. today i had the great idea to cover the hole- i went to autozone and bought some double-sided automotive grade 3M tape that i am going to use to cover the hole, reattach the led license plate light, and then put the one screw that fits through its original hole. that way i can cover the hole and i have no worries about the lights coming loose from all the pounding from my subs. but so far the light from the led license plate lights looks great.

side question- does anyone know exactly how many of each type of bulb do i need to convert all my interior lights to leds?
