Leenjen, don't listen to Kyle, SoCal's awesome. Hehe, sorry Kyle, don't mean to bash ya, but I love it out here. It just depends on where you live. Some places are pretty crowded and congested, like the San Fernando Valley, but out where I live, Ventura County, it's less crowded, less congested, better air and cooler weather. You're at most 30 minutes away from the beach, far enough from the city but not too far, and I can't remember the last time we had an earthquake. Seriously, where else in the US can you, in the middle of December, drive a couple hours and go skiing or snowboarding in the morning, then drive a few more hours and be on the beach by the afternoon in 80 degree weather? Just be prepared for the traffic.

peace

Mike

Hey, I admit, Ventura is an awsome place. I just din't like anything below there. My Brother goes to UC Santa Barbara and I am totally jealous. It's just that that is as far south as I want to go!

(And I live 30 minutes away from awsome snow!)

actually i could ski in the winter a few minutes from my house. and in the summer, the beach is only about an hour and a half away.

but i'd still like to move out west.

Ah yes, but can you do both in the same season, and on the same day? :)

i wish i could mike.

that would be great. i'll use that to try to convince my wife that we HAVE TO move. she wants to buy a house soon, but doesnt know where. i say the west is the best ; )

buy a house in norcal? hope your a millionaire =)
houses are too damn expensive out here. i have a feeling i wont have the money to buy my own house untill im at least 50

i dont need a huge house with acres of land. just a regular house for a family of four.

Like Mike said, hope you're a millionaire :). Last year when I worked for Rockwell, I went to their office up in Palo Alto (NorCal, in the San Jose area. Right in Silicon Valley). There was a flier tacked to a bulletin board in the office advertising a tiny little shack in downtown Palo Alto which was smaller than my garage. The price was $800,000. I s*** you not.

yeh a nice little house for a family of four will run you no less then $600,000

I am going to go ahead and disagree with you on that one. Our house is over 2500 square feet, on five acres, and, what I think, is very nice and was only apraised at 350 grand. There are many places that you can buy outrageous homes for under 400,000. You just need to know where to look.

so if yours was appraised at 350K that's not bad. i dont need 5 acres (it would be nice, but not necessary).
so i could probably find a nice house on less land for 200K-300K, right? that seems worth it to me. but if prices are a little cheaper in SoCal, i might check that out too.

i just want to live somewhere different, i dont want to spend my whole life living on the east coast. i need a change of scenery.

whats the big deal about california? i never got it.

yeh but KEbert, you live in auburn. i live in san rafael. Marin county. my step dads 4 bedroom 2 bath not very nice house was apraised at 830k. there is no back yard or garage. and its an older house that looks funky.
cali isnt all that expensive. the bay area is. same with the LA area. unfortunantly i live in the most expensive county in the state.

830k is way too much money

yeh i know.
not just buying a house is expensive. renting is too. my friend rents a room in a house. just one small room. he has to share a kitchen and bathroom with 4 other roommates. he payes 850 a month.

something is wrong with my posting,
tesssssstttttt

looks fine to me
