Left Cam cassette

Hey folks, I have replaced all chains and guides, except balance shaft, in my SOHC 4.0. I notice that the tensioner side of the front cassette is really tight. It moves, but it takes a good hard push. I loosened the lower retaining bolt and its still really tight. (admission of stupid: I did over torque that bolt once, but it's much better now). Did I just crush the bottom of that cassette when I over tightened? Ideas?

piston movement?

Did you check the hydraulic tensioner by pressing on the piston for smooth movement prior to installation? Did you purchase Ford camshaft timing parts or aftermarket parts? At least one member had the rear piston seize immediately on start up causing the cassette guide assembly to break.

There is a bushing installed in the lower section of the guide assembly that the lower mounting bolt goes thru.

It is unlikely that you torqued that small bolt with enough force to distort the bushing.

Hmmm. I don't recall a bushing. That's a great thought that I will look into tonight.

Took the cassette out. The bushing is there, the cassette is just tight. Meh. Back in it went.
