Left front wheel jerking ?

When I go up the big hill that leads to my house my left front wheel jerks. LIke it is trying to use 4wd but can't decide if it wants to or not. Also I hear a little BUMP BUMP BUMP as it jerks. Very annoying but I'm not that good at front ends. And idea what this is ? Hub , Bearing or what ?? It is a Control Trac 4wd.

Are you using 4x4, or are you in 2 wheel mode ?

In AUTO mode. Mine has 4x4 AUTO , 4x4 HIGH , and 4x4 LOW. If I put it in 4x4 HIGH when going up the hill it stops jerking.
