- 2001 EB Explorer V8
A few weeks ago, I wrote about a low pitched groaning/rubbing sound coming from the left front wheel area whenever I made a hard left turn like when you pull into a parking space. Today, with 35,300 miles on my 2001 Ex EB V-8, I took it to the dealer from some pre-warranty runs out items which needed attention. I mentioned this noise and the mechanics were able to reproduce it.
After a couple of hours of evaluating this problem, they decided it was a defect in the rack and pinion/steering mechanism and replaced the whole thing under warranty. I know there were a few other folks on here with a history of a similar left front sound, so I thought I would report on my circumstance.
By they way, I complained that the rear wiper was not making even contact with the back window, The dealer went ahead and replaced the motor and it seems to be working fine now.
