Left side headlight low beam not working

A few days ago I noticed the driver side headlight was out. Thinking it was just a burned out bulb I picked up a new one to install (#9007). I take the headlamp assy out to replace the bulb and find one wire to the plug completely broken and insulation on the other two worn partially through; looks like the wires have been rubbing on something. Installed a new plug assy w/o problem (only 3 wires to connect) and put in the new light bulb for good measure. Now I've got high beam but no low beam; same with the original bulb. I've read that the driver side low beam goes through the "Light Out Module (LOM)" which could have a cracked solder connection but I'm not sure the 2002 Sport Track 4x4 has one. Does anyone know if there is a LOM on this model and if so is it located under the forward part of the center console?

sounds like you have one of the wires switched on the new plug...

do you have high beams when you flip the stalk forwards or is it high beam when you turn the rotary switch?

you mentioned that you had one wire completely cut through and another with bad shielding. that being said check the under hood fuse panel there is a fuse for individual low beams one for left, one for right, should be fuse #38 its a 10A mini fuse.

Left side low beam

I was very careful connecting the wires exactly the same as the original plug. I think if I had one of the wires incorrect (and no other problem) I'd have low beam and no high beam. Lights come on when I turn the switch, except for the left low beam, and switch to high beam as expected when I activate the turn signal stalk multi function switch. Since one wire was completely broken and others had cut insulation which could have resulted in arcing, I'll check fuse #38 in the under hood fuse/relay box as suggested. I've never noticed any evidence of "light out" notification and this model doesn't have automatic daytime driving lights so, does this model Sport Trac have the LOM?

Does the 2003 sport trac 4x4 have this LOM in the center console.
