level of difficulty?

how hard is it to install a cd player in a 92 xlt? I currently have the original tape deck that came with it, and that's all.
P.S. I have never worked with car sterios before.

If you're referring to a new head unit with a CD player, then it's simple. In addition, you'll be spending 15 more bucks on a harness.

If you're talking about a changer that will be integrated into your system, it's a little more difficult, mainly time consuming (not too much though).

In that case, you have two choices, either buy it from Crutchfield.com where they can give you totally user friendly car-specific instructs, or buy it for a little less at a car stereo store and they will charge you interest or you can do it yourself.
