Ok guys I usually don't like to race in the X, and usually I find no reason to post it here, but I figured someone might get a kick out of this.

Last night I was bored and hungry, so I decided to go get something to eat. I decided to take the long way and take one of the stop-lighted highways near-by.

I was driving down the road when I noticed a Lexus (I originally though SC430 but wow that is wrong. This was a 4-door J30-like sedan.) coming up on my butt pretty fast. He kept following me as I passed by the slower traffic, then went to the side of me as we approached a red light.

I quickly glanced over my shoulder to see to my surprise an old guy and his wife that were probably in their 50s or early 60s. I noticed the guy was checking out my X and pointing ahead when the light on the side-roads turned yellow. I quickly got ready to go and see how badly I'd get burned.

The green flashed in front of my eyes and we both took off, me squealing the tires, and he getting a good launch. After the tires bit, I quickly pulled 1 car on him as the SOHC began revving.

All through first, I had him by a car, then when it shifted, he began pulling on me and came upto my hood, when the SOHC finally let loose at 6K and hung there for a few seconds.

Needless to say his hood never passed my door. We both shut-down at about 65 because traffic was coming up, and cops were out full-force last night.

I'm sure he was wondering how in the world an X could move that fast, and I am still surprised as well. I would have suspected a Lexus would be faster, but oh well, it IS a TOYota engine ;) Power to the Xtreme. :redexp: :D I guess red cars really are faster ;)

Kill List : V-6 Mustang, 4-cylinder Accord EX, Datsun 280Z (Non-turbo from the early 80s), Lexus Sedan, Primered rice-burner Civic. Man I love these 4.10s!

(Ok so I do race sometimes ;) Just no highway racing for me.)

Damn, I hate posts like this, especially when put in the wrong forum.

There is no way on earth your X could beat a Lexus 400 series of any kind, unless the driver of the Lexus was in a coma at the time or the car was running on 3 cylinders at the time.

Any capable driver in that car would smoke you in a heartbeat, I wouldn't put it in your KILL list.

Wrong forum? Is there a "kills" section on here?

And also, how is it not possible? What kind of engine do those Lexuses (Lexi?) pack?

*Edit* Whoa! The SC430 is the coupe. This was totally wrong. This Lexus was a long 4-door sedan that looked just like an Infiniti J30.

oh its entirley possible that you beat him it all depends on how much the driver of the Lexus wanted to push his almost brand new vehicle. that thing has a 4.3L V8 one of the best engines in the world right now according to my friends dad who owns a very prominent foreign engine shop.

I know most if not all of the V8 Lexus' run below 15 seconds, my mom's LS400 runs 14.1 or 14.3 in the 1/4.

If it was the SC430, he could beat you at half throttle; they have 300 horses ;)

Oh, and I can move this to my forum :D

Whoa well sorry guys, my mistake! I edited my second post because I thought the SC430 was some sort of sedan. Whoops  This was a mid to late 90s 4-door Lexus. It was pretty dang big. Looked about as long as a Concorde.

2002 Lexus SC430

4.3 liter DOHC 32-valve V8
300 bhp @ 5600 rpm
3,840 lbs
0-60 in 5.9

I didn't mean to come off so rude, but your 215HP, 4400lb, unaerodynamic X is NOT going to beat that.

And yes, there is a "Need For Speed" forum under Sport Trucks.

*Nods* A friend of mine's dad just bought an SC430 for himself, and it's a very pretty car, although I must say, the back seat is just about as useless as they come ;)

That's the kind of backseat that is put in there just so insurance will be lower. I don't think it's feasible to sit there.

Seeing that I have a Lexus LS400 AND an Explorer, I think I'll comment.

The only Lexus sedan I can think of that looks anything like a J30 is a GS300. It was probably an older one. It would be possible to beat this car in a race, especially if it was old. You'd have no chance against a 4 series Lexus though LOL, LS, SC or GS.

also, you must have one hell of an X or some crappy ass tires to be able to smoke them off the line...very impressive

...Could have been the ES300 which is nothing more than a Camry!!:D

The 4.10s are what do it ;) Seriously, I will sit and spin for 3-5 seconds if I floor it and hold the pedal. I can get it to fish-tail slightly. The tires are the Goodyear Wranglers that came with the Wilderness replacement, and they're less than 10K miles old, so they're still in great condition.

For example, I was at a stop-light, and decided to see how long I could spin the tires so I held it there and the tires began to howl very loudly, and someone waiting at the other side of the light freaked out and started honking at me ;) I let up and took off out of there quickly.

i have 3.73s, an lsd, and 31s and can smoke my tires.... i can do some major burnouts with both rear wheels spinning on dry pavement if i do a brakestand....
EDIT: that is with the abs disconnected, if it isnt disconnected, they dont spin other than chirping a little bit here and there

hmm. that is weird, i have 4.10's and i still cant do it with the SOHC. Must be the damn 265's. I need to put on a set of like 185/50/14's and just roast 'em.

Yeah I have the standard size tires (215/45/15?). Not sure about the size since I basically know nothing about tires except keeping track of the inflation level. ;)

I do think my X is somewhat of a factory freak. It's time to answer the call of the track and go see how fast she runs. :)

Yea, when I got my 5.0, it had a set of 15" alloys with 235/70s on it. I could screech a tire pretty well. Now I have the chrome 16" EB wheels on it with the 265/70s and won't even begin to loose traction. This is with 3.73s.

There are a lot of variables with the ability to lose traction with an X with a little power. Gear ratio, weight of wheel/tires, width of tires, and quality of tires.

I kinda miss the ability to lay a little rubber, but for the looks of the heavy chrome wheels, I will live with it.

I guess we all forgot about the Supra or the Celica All-Trac Turbo.

Toyota builds some nice engines. Kinda like the V8 that's going to be in their upcoming $100,000+ supercar...

Well yes that's true, but those are special high-performance engines. The Camry's 4-cylinder for example can barely get out of its own way.

oh oh , i have a kill list!

2002 civic si (stock, but shiny).
manual Civic hatchback (93 i believe) with headers, exhaust, intake, some other crap.
V6 mustang (i was proud of that one).
95 camry.
del sol.
97 Civic EX with intake, exhaust... something else.
Dakota Sport.
2nd generation prelude with exhaust, probably some other stuff, and lots of racing stickers that helped it go fast.

 Wow, nice list there man. The V-6 Mustang I raced was a dog. We went from a 20+ roll, and I was in a high gear too when we punched it. Needless to say he was disappering pretty fast. This was an older SN95 V-6 with 145 Horsepower :D
