hey my names kaitlin, im new. ive had my exploder for a while now. put a brush guard, 2 sets of lights, and 31'10.50 baja claws besides all the performance stuff. its been sitting in ohio for the past year bc ive been in utah at college and now my dad has just driven it out here ( hes shipping my mudders). i want to lift the baby. ive been looking for probably 3 years now for a lift for her, and ill ive come up with was 3 thousand dollar 4in lifts.
i was wondering if anybody has found a lift for 96' all wheel drive explorers for about a grand or if anybody has found any body lifts! the more help the better!! im a full time student, so im broke. sponserships and donations are more than welcome. u can see a picture of my car on cardomain or my myspace www.myspace.com/xsnoxbunix

Well you could do TT + shackles which will get you about 2", and/or a 2-3" body lift. Either way if you use the search function you'll find just about anything that you could think of on this site. ;)

BTW welcome! :D

For a grand or less......TT (Torsion twist ) and 2" lift shackles in the rear + a 3" body lift ( PA# 853 ) This might cost you around 170/200$ Suspension your looking at a min of 1800$ for the Superlift 4" kit

where can i find a body lift though?

4wheelparts.com....summitracing.com..for starters

sorry cybergasm, neither of those places sell body lifts for my car. my ex boyfriend used to work at LINE-X and he worked his ass off trying to find a body lift or 3in lift for my car and flat out nobody makes them. on summit racing i found a pro comp add-a-leaf kit which would give me like 2 inch of lift. which is only $30 and then i would also buy new shocks which im in desperate need of. (i had pink shock boots but then my car got totaled and we sent them back : (

of course you have to get the PA853 kit for the Ranger and modify it to fit the explorer which usalluly means have to make the bumper brackets etc to make it work. Ihad to use the PA883 on my 99 just had to make brackets for the rear and buy a couple of different bolts to make it work on mine.

there are no body lifts made for the 95+ explorers because the body only has 6 (i think) points of contact with the frame, do much danger for problems
correct me if i am wrong

umm...WTF? all 91-01 explorers have 10 body bolts...plenty of people including me are running BL's on 95-01s with no problems.

o sorry, 10 points of contact. in kno it is safe, but companies that produce the bl's stopped because of problems, sorry

I revisit my last state ment ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^...PA(Performance Accerories) part number 853. Crank the torsion bolts and add shackles in the back.http://www.stylinconcepts.com/parts.aspx?partfamilyid=1274&subcategoryid=200&categoryid=30...Here is a link to the kit. Shackles, you can spend 20$ at Pepboys or go with something beefier if you plan on getting dirty

Sorry I know you guys already covered this but i had read sumwhere about the lack of lift kits due to the way the drivetrain is set up is this true?

^^no there is a lack of lift because there was no demand for them in the begining......now there is so they have the 4in.....but the main reason is because of the dam IFS front suspension..

The only time you really need to think about drive train, is if you do the 4" lift. They sell a better front drive shaft.
