Just go for the 2" Torsion Twist/ Shackle lift.
Do a search. You will find everything.
The shackles cost about $50 and the torsion twist is just labor because you will just be turning 2 bolts under your explorer. Total time should take like 1-2 hours.
The torsion twist is the front lift and the shackles are the rear lift.

Hope this helps.

Some of you Explorer owners may already know that bodylifts for 95-01 Explorers are currently unavailable. But wait! All is not lost! Performance Accessories makes a series of 3" bodylifts for the 95-01 Rangers. The Ranger is identical to the Explorer from the cab forward so it appears that these kits will work on Explorers. Well, they do and we have been very successful with installations. Performance Accessories produces two kits, one for 95-97's and one for 98-01's. The main difference with these kits is the steering extension and bumper brackets. The 98-01 kit will work on ALL 95-01 Explorers with the exception of the steering extension on 95-97's. Here's the catch, you need the steering extension from the 95-97 kit for 95-97's, but the 95-97 kit does not have the correct bumper lift brackets so after a few hit and misses we found it easier to order the 98-01 kit and then specify that you need the 95-97 extension. When purchasing your bodylift kit, order the 98-00 kit #883. If you have a 95-97, make sure you exchange the 98-00 steering extension for the 95-97 extension. The extensions are very different and cannot be interchanged so make sure you specify which one you need.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Performance Accessories makes excellent kits and are top of the line. Installation time averages around 8 hrs with help from a few friends. The kit price is around $130 which is the cheapest 3" lift around. If you are looking for some lift and on a budget then this is the way to go.

Fanstasymon, I cant seem to find this torsion twist and shackle lift, could you give me a website or something? Thanks a lot.

The Torsion Twist and Shackle lift is a do-it-yourself lift. There isn't a kit, you just buy the longer shackles. I don't know if you need new shocks with it or not. Danny - do a search here (the Explorer Forum) for torsion or shackle and you should be able to find plenty of info on how to do it. I think you can get the shackles from www.desertrat.com but if you do a search you'll have a better shot at getting good info and the part number you need to ask for. Good luck.

BislamJoe is right...
It is a do-it-yourself lift. Well I had a bodyshop do it for me for like $30 but most people do it themselves. I'm just not much of a mechanic at all.
Just go to the www.desertrat.com website. They don't have the shackles listed on there but just get their phone number and call them. Tell them you want the warrior shackles for your explorer. With shipping it should be like $55.

I would recommend just rasing the torsion bars like 1.75" and 2" is definately the max you should go. The best part of the lift is that it will let you get bigger tires. I did the TT/Shackle lift for 1.75 inches of lift and then put 265/70/17's which gave me another 2.5" inches of lift.

If you have any more questions just ask

Ok, I have done some research now and I am completely lost. Im interested in the TT and shackle lift but keep hearing so many different words I am confused. Keep in mind I am new here and dont know much about lift kits, I still dont know if this lift is a body lift or a susp. lift! lol. Please help me!

thanks

Thanks to everyone who emailed and posted messages, I plan to put one of those puppys on in the near future!!

okay Danny this is the best I can descirbe it (briefly that is)..

1. Call 1-800-528-3402. Tell them that you want the Warrior shackles for your Explorer. They will cost about $55 with shipping.

2. The shackles are the things at the rear of your explorer. You will have to crawl under to see them. They are black and H shaped. There are 2 of them. Once you get the Warrior shackles you should be able to find the stock ones because you will know what they look like. The warriors are about 3" longer than the stock shackles and they are steal. This will raise the rear of your explorer 1.5".

3. To put the shackles on, I am not 100% sure how because I just had a body shop do it. But I did watch them do it and looked very simple. I just didnt have a jack with jackstands so didnt want to mess with doing it my self.

4. After the shackles are on your explorer will be slanted because your rear will be 1.5" taller.

5. Crawl under your explorer near the front but closer to the middle. It is hard for me to describe these and took me a while to find. They are very obvious however once you know where they are. Do a search about locating the TORSION BOLTS.

6. Once you find the 2 bolts (one of the left one on the right side) you will have to tighten these. The more you tighten the higher your lift will be. However you need to measure the distance from your wheel well to the ground before you start this. Then keep turning the bolts untill your new measurement equels anywhere from 1.5"-2". NO HIGHER

These are pretty vague descriptions but there are TONS of threads about this on here.

Let me know if this helped...
