Danny, what are you looking at doing? Are you setting this up for show, or performance? I'm a first generation Explorer guys myself, but I'm always full of ideas. Let me know if you need any help. I'm at Miramar.

lift kits

HEy i was thinking for it mostly to be performance. I was thinking about fitting maybe 32's on mine but not exactly sure on to go about this. Maybe a body lift? or spindals? not sure. Just to do a little offroading around black mountain. Cant find a body lift kit but someone told me to get a ranger one, not sure on that either, just looking for ideas.

32's on your truck for performance, you will need, and WANT more than a body lift. You need to start looking at suspension kits. They are spendy, but if you want to do this, and do it right, you need to spend some money. I'm willing to help you out if you need it. Where are you located? Also, why mess with Black Mountain when you are just a little over any hour away from Truckhaven?

Do you have four or two wheel drive. If it is two, then spindles would be a good idea. In comparison to an entire kit for a 4wd, they are relativley inexpensive. But if you have a 4wd, you may look into doing a TT and shackle lift, along with a small body lift. Search around, there have been numerous discusions about these different lifts.

I was speaking (I guess typing) with Danny in the chat room the other night. He already has a TT up front and AAL, or shackles, in the rear. So, he is already in the 1.5-2" range. I don't think I asked if he was 4wd, I just assumed he was (I know what happens).

If 4wd: 3" BL is under $200 if you can do it at home. A susp lift will start at about $1500. Of course, the susp lift is MUCH better, but you have to weigh in the cost.

If 2wd: I would look into doing the spindles up front and a SOA in the rear. I can't give any price on that b/c I have never looked at spindles.

Either way should allow you to fit 32s nicely.

If you want more in the rear, I would say to put on the spindles and jack up the torsion bars about another inch and a half. Then in the rear, do a spring over and take out the overload leaf. That should sit fairly level and it would ride a heck of a lot better than that silly add a leaf.

I agree with KEBERT. Good luck, hope you make it out to T-Haven.

HEY I'M IN SAN DIEGO, AND I'M LOOKING TO LIFT MY 98 EXPLORER ALSO. BUT ORW AND 4WHEEL PARTS HAVE SAID THEY DON'T MAKE A LIFT FOR 96 AND UP. BUT THEY CAN CUSTOM ONE FOR ABOUT $1500. WHAT HAVE YOU FOUND SO FAR.

Dude.. 4wheelparts has a 96+ kit on their website. Don't buy from any place that tells you there is no suspension kit made for 2nd gen Explorers.

body lift

Were can i get a 3" body lift for my 99 explorer sport?? and how much they cost??

Use a 98-00 Ranger kit from Performance Accessories. They're about $150.

is that what you used on your truck

dude at performance accessories, they have the kit for a 98-01 explorer, should i go with that instead of the one for the ranger

nvm that was for an expedition

I used the 95-97 Ranger kit on mine. But they changed the steering shaft in the 98+ Explorers, so you guys need to use the 98-00 Ranger kit.

96+ lift kit

I bought the 96+ 4" superlift suspension kit from 4wheelparts.. and I have had absolutely no problem with it. I got it installed about a month and a half ago and still have not taken any pics. As for tires. I got 32x11.5x15 and they rub.. so I had to trim the fender so they wont rub. But I already know I am going to need to put about a 1" body lift on in order to allow it more travel up and down (cant think of the actualy term right now). but they do make it and the guys that did the install said that it was not hard at all.

how much did the 4" suspension lift cost?
