i got a 2000 explorer 2-wheel drive. currently i removed the torsion bolts to get the lowest i can, and put a 3" block in the rear. but just a few days ago, my son and i went for a walk through some woods and a big field.there were a bunch of trails and what not, four-wheelers and some big long trails made for trucks. there were a couple mud pits and the tire grooves were 2 foot deep in some spots. and it got me thinking, man that would be fun to drive in. and im currently going back and forth with leaving it lowered 3" or lifting it 3".even though its 2-wheel drive, im sure with a 3" lift and maybe some 33's it would do ok. but i was wondering on how to lift the rear since the axle is on top of the leaf springs. and should i leave it lowered, or lift it! im open to any suggestions.thanks.

lift it! you can only drive a street truck on the street, but you can take a lifted truck on road and off!

You could do a spring-over-axle conversion in the rear, but that would net your more than 3 inches. Common results around here seem to be 5"-6" of lift for a SOA conversion.

A body lift is a cheap, effective option for getting room for tires. Couple a bl with shackles in the rear and a torsion twist up front and you may be able to fit 33s on your truck.

yes true, can drive on and off road! thanks for the info! i'll think about it, and what option to go with if i do decide to lift it.
