Well, my lift shackles arrived today and I got em fitted. I have to say, I'm a little disappointed! NOT with the shackles, the quality of them is nothing short of amazing! Seriously heavy duty and fabricated to perfection. But I was expecting more of a result, they don't seem to have lifted the truck at all, you can see the shackles now when you stand at the back of the truck, but thats about the only result. Have I done something wrong? Also, they came with a small plate with 2 little bolts, I'm hoping kevin.p spots this and can tell me whats its for, cos i haven't got a clue :D

The little plate attaches to the top of the diff and raises the ARC lever up a bit. Install it and activate the air-ride by opening the doors, locking/unlocking the car/jumping on the bumper/swearing at it (Or however you do it :D) and it might lift itself up

I have a set of Kevin P shackles that I've swapped to my two Explorers and the difference is night and day.

Ay up James,
As Ilikemice says. The arc [ automatic ride control ] is located on top of the axle on the right hand side. Unbolt the lower half of the switch and put the plate on the axle and then attatch the switch to the top of the plate.

Superb, I got under, had a quick look and gave up trying to figure it out! I'll have another look when I don't have man flu and can think straight.

On the plus side, I took the truck for a run after a little torsion twist and it now sits MUCH better, with the lift I was expecting! It looks much better now. Now I'm trying to find a body lift from the uk, I've found one in the states, but postage, tax etc works out more expensive than the kit itself, so I'm holding out.

Fantastic!! I will be buying THESE spacers, just trying to find the bolts, all i've managed to find so far are coachbolts.

Once I have done mine, I will be happy to fit a set to yours.

Just remember that the centre of gravity has changed just with the shackles. With the body lift, it will increase even more. Consider getting wheel spacers. Also, you will probably have to get extended brake hoses and different length shocks. Could get very expensive!!

So far, I have found the shackles have actually given the truck a lot better handling, not sure if it was just bad before, but definitely better now. I have already fitted extended brake lines, figured it would be a good idea just for the shackles and tt. Longer shocks is probably a good idea, although, I don't offroad the truck, it's purely for looks! :-D
I think my next job though will be my front diff, as I noticed yesterday, I have developed a bit of a noise, after looking, I have a leak where the propshaft joins!
