Lifting my X

that depends..lol i took mine off and they are soild as a rock...
they dont use salt here...heck the dog legs on my moms '94 X w/running boards still has zero rust. just depends where you live and what they use. i really like the stock running boads but yeah some have that prob where salt is used.

anyway good luck with whatever you decide.

they arent connected to the frame...unless they are tube nerf bars.
ohhhhh ok thats what i was thinking of: nerf bars. so he has the ones that are molded to the body and run with the body sort of? well hes ok then i guess. thanks for the correction

i have the stock nerf bars on my explorer sport, and they are mounted to the body also. Not the best idea in my opinion though, cause if you put too much weight on them they can bend the mounting points to the body. I've seen some f-150s with similar bars with this problem.

 Poor student needs cheap lift. How does $1000 fiberglass fenders raise his running boards for clearing rocks. Maybe he should just do a SAS while he is at it.

His running boards will be raised by his larger tires. Also, I think that the running boards high centering is a symptom, not the problem. Also, there are people that don't drive their 5.0 explorers like race cars? What a shame.

speaking of swaybars- my truck doesnt have any- never installed either, and it is my daily driver on 35s, its partially because of my springs, but what i am saying is you can get rid of sway bars, depending on how extreme you want to go, it seems your going cheap though, so this doesnt apply to you, just thought i would share

you can get rid of the swaybars as long as you dont drive like an idiot.

I noticed that Explorers come with either the the molded running boards or the actual bars. Rarely do I see the ones with actual bars (what I have). How rare are they and are they better than the molded ones?

To avoid confusion I have the molded running boards.
