im currently driving a stock 94 explorer xlt i have the materials to put a 2" lift on it with coil spacers and blocks on the leafs, i was wondering if the factory shock absorbers would still work properly. i just replaced all of them with factory sizes so i dont want them to go to waste.

um you cant do rear blocks, the explroer is spring under, a block will lower the truck.... look into add a leafs and or shackles.... the stock shocks will be fine

i never even looked to see if it was spring under or not DUH this is my second one and i overlooked that. is there any other way for the rear other than add a leaf

and i dont like shackles i had a 4 runner with a 2 inch shackle lift and the rear end swayed like a mo fo

shackles are jsut fine, you probably had some pos crap shackles, the warriors that most here run with their explroers are beefy....

an add a leaf will stiffen up the ride and raise it slightly, if you dotn liek the idea of an add a leaf, then your only other option is to get custom made lift springs (but for 2" i wouldn't waste the $) my $35 add a leaf works jsut fine

keeping on track of lift questions.. i have a set of AALs ready to put on but was wanting a little more than 2 inches of lift. i saw that skyjacker has 4" leaf packs for a ranger listed and with a set of ext. coil springs and a coil spacer up front that would give me roughly 4" all the way around the truck. i have some adjustable ranchos to compensate for the lift the factory shocks will be far too extended. my only question is if the leaf packs for a ranger will work on a 2 door explorer? i know rangers are axle under leafs. my only other option would be to have a leaf pack made but that is costly. any input is appreciated.

i know it seems like a lot of money, but aftermarket leafs are the way to go. out of all the suspension components on my truck, they are the only part that never got broken....550 dollar set of deavers. custom spring rate, you choose your ride height, it towed better, and had amazing flex. best thing possible next to a 4 link.

i just priced a set of skyjacker leafs at 560. thats a little high, theres local machine shop in town that does custom spring and driveshafts, mainly for commercial businesses. gonna see if they can make me somethin.

If you are willing to spend the money and have a local shop around, go to autozone, buy the rear spring seat flip kit for a F150, which have the same 8.8 rear axles as most ex's. the kit is about 50$, take it to a shop and they will figure out the angles and weld the kit on for you, but if you are getting say a 6'' susp lift the rear will only be lifted 4", thats because most of the SOA lifts are for rangers and rangers have 2" blocks stock if it is a 4x4, so you would need the kit block and another 2" block, which isnt that safe or you could get a add-a-leaf kit.....just a suggestion and to have some one do it, for me its around 500$ and bout 6hrs of work....good luck

...unless you put your springs over axle and just go with a 6" lift up front...;)
