Hey everyone,
This is my first time to the board and it looks like there are a lot of knowledgable people here. I was wondering if there are any lifts (body or suspension) available for 1999 Explorers? I just got a 99 Sport and I'd like to lift it. Thanks for any input.

I believe you have a couple of options. There is no made lift for 95+ explorers except for the trailmaster 4 inch lift, but its pricey, and I dont know it if fits 2 door. You can mod. a ranger body lift, to fit the explorer sport, and you can twist your torsion bars and get warrior shackles in the back, for about a 2 inch lift.

4 inch trailmaster 98-00:$1300 includes shocks
1 3/4 inch torsion twist with warrior shackles:$50-60
PA 3 inch body lift:$120 have to modify bumper relocation bracket

What is a PA 3" body lift?

I mean who are they and is there a link to them?

Go with the 3inch body lift. Do a search in the before and after form for my truck! the pictures were posted by 2001expsport. Also he has the same body lift on his 2001.

It is Performance assc. part number 186 I believe!! you do not have to fab anything!!! all you have to do is beat the living crap out of the rear bumper brackets and make them flat! GO to NOIEC.COM then go to the INFORMATION PAGE there is a write up on Matt's lift on the 2001. This lift is the same for 98-01.

How hard is it to put on the PA 3" lift? I'm new to the lifting scene. I have a 99 Sport and was thinking about it too... I don't have a lot of experience with working on the truck, but I am pretty mechanically adept in my opinion. Will that PA 3" fit the Sport, or just the 4 dr or either or does it not matter and I don't know much. :)

You can also use the Superlift 98 Ranger lift kit. On the Ranger lift kits you either do a spring over or buy some Skyjacker 4" lifted springs and keep it spring under.
Because you have a 98+ model, you won't have to modify anything like I had to on my 97.
Hope this helps.

What are the differences between '95-'97 and 98'-2000 Explorers. How much fabrication to put a new 98-2000 4" trailmaster lift kit on to my '97.

everybody thinks it would take alot of fabrication but not really i have done a lift on a 99 ranger so i know what the kit looks like and the thing that is different about the 95-97 explorer is the torsion bar mount is welded to the frame so u would have to cut this off and drill holes for the drop bracket u could probly get most shops to do it but email some of the 95-97 guys with the lift i know there is a couple and ask them all that was involved as i have never torn apart a 95-97 exoporer's suspension

Will this body lift work on a '97 4x4 Sport?

hey robert i think cameron has the same body lift on his 97 sport oh yeah if u get it does that mean you are going to run martinez canyon with us

Yeah we did the lift on Cams about month and a half ago. The only thing that went wrong was the stearing extension didn't fit. I believe he did get a new one from PA, but you would have to ask him on that! THAT WAS THE ONLY PROBLE WE RAN INTO..........................

Cameron: Did you get the wrong steering extension or was the supposed correct one not correct? If I order the kit, should I make it a point of asking for the steering extension separately? Where did you order it? Do they have a web site? How much? Can it be done in a weekend? Thanks.

Commocozy: Thanks.

Clint: Not likely, I almost killed myself trying to walk down the last hill :) It will open up my possibilities though, not to mention a vast improvement in looks. How are you at putting on body lifts? Think you and Ryan could give me a hand if I decide to do it?

Arsoul: Ryan, see last line to Clint.

i have done two but both were on older vehicles like a 70 scout and 51 willys jeep but i think it shouldn't be to hard there is a write up that will walk us right thru it

robert u know u want to go run martinez it wasn't all that bad well alright it was bad but fun besides for my body damage

?Try the write up on NOIEC.COM also join our site while your there you don't have to be from IL.. The write up is under the INFORMATION PAGE!

I saw the write up, both here and on noiec.com. It doesn't look too involved. However, having never done anything like it before I don't want to go it alone. Besides having a parts chaser car and someone to get there hand caught in between the frame and the body besides me sounds fun.

i dont' want to help anymore "parts chaser" lol

Oh boy here we go again with the hand and frame thing! i would just like to say i was doing what i was suposed to... it was more between the lift block and the frame. all i know is it hurt like HELL and i am glad there were 4 guys there to lift the truck off my hand.. umm one more thing! DONT USE WODEN BLOCKS THEY BREAK MY HAND KNOWS NOW! worst part is it wasn't even my truck damn it

Well the goal is to have everything before I start. Of course if it does turn out that I need something, maybe Ryan would take me up to get it while you stay home and entertain my 3 year old daughter? (just don't touch the Sunshine Barbie, she is very sensative about that one!)
