i just bought a 2000 AWD LTD with lights on the running board,
for some reason i can't figure out how to turn the lights on
is it something that is supposed to be on when i open the vehicle with the remote keyless, or is it supposed to be on all the time?
is there an extra switch for it (I beleive it is original)?

Thanks

its the same as your interior dome lights...they should light up whenever your dome lights are on, like when you open a door, or unlock it with your remote, or type in the code on the keypad...

Your bulbs are most likely out..
Or a fuse maybe...

i did, they look ok
but anyway, what are the chances that all off the lights will go?

Alot lol, all of mine but one out of the 6 in the cluster went out around the same time.

(5 in the cluster, 2 of the ac/heat controls, both "door" lights, rear seat dome light)
and a few more.

When I bought it (talking about my 95) out of the like 100 bulbs in that explorer, about 10 of them didnt need to be replaced.

Thats what sucks about buying a used truck, but then again its a good thing, cus you know a lot of stuff is brand new, and not old and probably beaten to hell :p

The little 194 bulbs (like the cluster/ac/heat/doors/glove box/dome lights) usually dont look burnt out, I had like 4 that looked brand new, but didnt work, then some that the whole inside of the bulb was black lol

Those kind of lights tend to go out after only 2 or 3 years as they are exposed to all the elements.

I realize that I am resurrecting an old thread, but I too need help with my running board lights.
All of my interior lights work, but none of the running board lights. I have replaced the bulbs, tested with my multimeter, the wires to the running boards are not getting power. Do the running boards have a separate fuse or relay?
