Just thought I'd show everyone what a difference a quality set of driving lights makes for night driving on country back-roads.
The high and low beams are Sylvania Silverstars in nearly-new Depo OEM replacement headlights. (Not the clear lenses, just new diffused lenses thanks to an unfortunate run-in with a snow shovel on the freeway) The KC Daylighters are the 150-watt, 385,000 candlepower sealed-beams.
Also, the Daylighters were aimed a little bit low. I apparently had some extra junk in the back when I aimed them that is no longer there.
Low beams
High beams:
Daylighters (notice how much darker the sky is in this one, even though it was taken at the same time as the other two)
Also notice how much farther the road is lit up beyone the concentrated part of the beam:
Just thought it might help anyone looking for some good long-range driving lights.
Here's how I mounted 'em:
The housing cleared the grille, but the wiring didn't, so I needed to raise them a bit to make them fit. I had to make a set of custom lower mounting 'washers' and replace the original bolts with some longer ones to reach through the longer base and bumper.
