lights dont stay on brights

i will pull the thing back, and it goes bacl to wher eit was. like i have the normal lights on, i getinto the dark country. so i want my brights on, i pull the ling back, and let go and it goes back to where it was and the brights go off. it wont stay in place.

that had me going for about 10 minutes when I first got my truck! I was like "crap, damn dealer ripped me off!!!" But then just pushed it and voila!

Yeah my friend just got a 2002 F-150 and he was like "I love this truck but I can't figure out how to turn on the darn brights" So I reached over flipped the multifunction stalk forward and there was bright light.
