limited vs eddie bauer

Here's something interesting, or maybe strange...
I recently bought a 98 Eddie Bauer 5.0 from a friend who was the original owner.
Its the traditional ("soccer-mom-ish IMO) forest green with tan, but it was special ordered with a dark green leather interior.

The interior is actually pretty cool - its dark and slightly blue - I would say "spruce green" if I had to label it, and EVERYTHING is green - headliner, carpet, dash, all plastics except the radio surround and the gauge cluster.

(I think that Ford does a much better job with colored interiors than Chevrolet - Chevy tends to use a lot of black to save $$$, and often every panel is a different shade, although they have gotten better.)
I've seen the green interiors as well, I believe the X that was used on Trucks had that color, not my cup of tea either. I'm just saying my personal tastes, I also would like a dark charcoal but I don't mind the light grey either. GM's interiors suck in terms of having things match up and such, I suppose they have gotten a little better tho.

The heated seats were an option also on the Limited (at least in '96), mine doesn't have them.

heated seats where not a option on any explorer untill 1999 ;)

Me and my friend both have 97 EB's, but when he parked his next to mine, mine was clearly taller..(by a 2-3 inch margin). come to find out later we were comparing again and his has the air ride... Must of been an option, i don't know. he wasn't original owner.

Mine is all leather, leather on the doors, (not wood grain) has the compass up top, has the 6 disc or 8 (forgot because I don't use it) in the center console, and has the power seats. Mines an XLT but with those options does that make it a limited? I was never sure. I guess it's just an XLT with all the options? My buddy has an XLT and his doesn't have any of the options mine has.

no you just have a fully loaded XLT. your leather is not actually "leather".

my dad has a 97 V8 AWD that has leather,6 disk JBL sound system, sun roof,..ect ect its just a fully loaded XLT nothing more.

are you saying the leather seats are not leather or the vinyl trim is not leather?

Only the door trim is not leather on your XLT and to be perfectly clear even limited seats aren't 100% leather only the area you sit on is. The sides and back are naugahide. This is even true with most household furniture. I used to do furniture repair for LA-Z-BOY.

im well aware that limited seats are not full leather. but i talked with a upolstry guy and looked at his book and it said that XLT seats are vinyl. so im just going by what that said. i could be wrong.

Different seats, wheels, colors, and badging. Thats about.

Well kid your guy is wrong. I and any one else can tell the diffrence between vinyl and leather. It wears diffrent and smells diffrent. Vinyal is uniform (same grain pattern) leather is dead cow skin so inperfections are common.

well then the book was wrong..lol so i was wrong. the leather they used on those XLT/EB seats does not seem near as nice though.(my dads 97 XLT has the leather sport buckets)
