The time is soon approaching in order to replace my 5r55w on my 03 4x4 w/93k, it's slipping almost constantly at highway speeds and in every gear at that! But... the slipping has been gradual so, I've been expecting it. Funny thing though I haven't had a single od light on yet!
She's been thru hell and back for over 50k and has never really had any problems except 1 dead battery and 1 bad servo piston and that's it! So I figured the money I haven't spent will cover this big purchase coming up.
I don't regret buying this truck even though there are so many things that can go wrong (especially with these trucks!) Over the time I have grown attached to her and will try and do anything to keep her on the road.
So thats way I want to make sure that I get the necessary parts in order to replace the tranny with another one... while in the mean time I will look for a good tranny shop to rebuild my original one.
p.s I had my solenoids and valve body's replaced at it's recommend intervals 55k.
