Home Stretch

2000 OHC Limited 111,000

1) Replace all 5 Shocks

2) Rear Hatch door locks when truck is put into gear but will not unlock with the access code or key fob must use the key.

3) Rear washer spray is weak

4) Tach reads 2000 RPM low

5) Small holes in front bumper cover

I was not going to waste any time with the last two when I got this truck last year but mostly due to this web site it came out so well I changed my mind. (Corrected over 30 issues some quite serious)

i have a 1991 explorer eddie bauer
im putting a new cd deck and all pioneer speakers.
2 6.5"
2 6"
2 6x9 4 way
patch panels for rocker panels (there rusty)

heres my list

-fix rear inside door handles
-cut u bolts from recent add a leaf
-shackels and tt
-3" bl (sitting on dresser)
-fab up new rear bumper
-wheel bearing
-pass side cv axle
-buy elite membership

96 Explorer XLT 4L 4x4 with 240800KM

-shocks all round they were replaced not long ago but it did logging roads on a daily basis till I got it.
-leafs are sagging pretty bad
-Tires
-need to either clean or replace interior.
-replace rear door interior panel it's cracked from either a tool box or a chainsaw banging into it (before it was mine)
-new windshield it's got 4 different cracks in it (again before I got it)
-needs a tune-up soon
-my front washer sprayers work only when they feel like it
-need to clean the motor it's full of dust
-2-3" lift eventually

It's actually quite a bit when I look at it but the truck was $400 from my parents so even if i put $1000 into it fixing it up I'm still doing good they are really expensive to buy where I live. Plus I love my truck. I've seen these with well over 300,000km we saw one once with 450,000 on it so I have no desire to replace her anytime soon. It's never given me or my parents any major problems. And it's got a heck of a lot more power then the Dodge neon I owned before it. The only thing I miss is my manual trans *sigh* more fun then just putting it in drive.

Newer member here (as a poster), long-time reader. Have had 4 gen 2 Explorers 1 4L OHV, 2 SOHCs, current 5L AWD. Love these things...

Well I'm not sure just yet. I've seen quite a few on this forum that I like. Definitely one that will accept a winch. But both are near the bottom of the want to do list for now.

On my '95 XLT at 296,000 miles

Replace the console lid, with new vinyl.
replace the tired original motor mounts
shocks
fix the damned code 214
fix the slight oil leak on the passenger side.
replace the right rear door latch, so that I don't have to jimmy the lock to get it open if someone tries to open it with the door locked, along with replace the power window motor harness in that door.
at some point replace the rocker arms

Dude texan you have a crapload of miles on your ex :salute:

TEXAN'S ride is just broke in

Mine went 242k or so on the original transmission. At 316k it was rolled by my wife. not a scratch on her. And not her fault.

on my stock '93
1. ball joints
2. get it running right (its actually at a shop as we speak, i gave up on looking for the problem)

my '91.
1. either fix or remove AC stuff
2. make new grille, with license plate holder

hey.. my list's aren't too bad!!

oh wait i forgot about my other 91.... it has a bigger list
1. finish supercharged 3.8 engine swap
2. build suspension
3. a bunch of wiring

i might have simplified that a but.. but you get the idea :)

Dude texan you have a crapload of miles on your ex :salute:

Yup, I've put 200k on it in 10 years, my brother in law bought it new and put 100k on it in 6 years.

Trans died at 225, engine has had gaskets but not been apart for anything mechanical.

It just goes and goes. Still looks new inside and out

'97 Mountaineer 301,700mi

Filled A/C last year and doens't work this year, may need to fill it again with the dye to find a leak.
I'm trying to replace the fog lights but the current broken ones are rusted on and I'm striping the lag bolts. Any suggestions in removing them?

A/C leaks

Bessie, be sure to pull the compressor pulley to check for a hub leak. Often the dye won't be visible.
