Guys I hate posting this, b/c I know there is a thread pertaining to this. I have an 04 Explorer E/B, may idle is totally out of whack. I need to know the exact location & how to replace it. Could somebody out there in TV & radio land please show the link as I have tried different search parameters, and I keep getting no topic found in the search titles.
Thanks

No external IAC used on 2004 and newer Explorers. (Electronic Throttle Control aka Throttle By Wire)

2004-05 Sport Tracs are the exception. Have you scanned for trouble codes?

What's the issue you are trying to solve?

Edit: is your idle dropping below 600 rpms at idle?
Do you have the 4.6l or 4.0l?

Based on the OP's User name, I guess the issue is that he bought a Ford???

Bahaha, that's easy enough, you just have to 'fix or repair daily.'

Could you give a little more information. Does the car act completely normal otherwise when driving. Has your mileage changed in sync when this rough idle started? Are there any associated Check Engine Lights?

Could be a vacuum leak. I'm not sure what info the car uses to adjust the throttle blade at idle and how much adjustment it really has, but perhaps one of those input sensors is not functioning properly (e.g., MAF).

Obviously jumped on the forum looking for a quick fix as he hasn't responded.

Guys:
"Or f'd on race day!"

I am around but doing other things.
I used to like my truck, but after dropping nearly $2G's in work recently on it & me supplying the parts in that cost & getting you know whatted over by a pr mechanic.
In that parts list I had a rebuilt ECM as this highly recommended mechanic told me he was getting F, G & H fault codes on his shop scope.

I yaint happy. I'm thru crying the blues.

Yes my idle is out of whack. It does idle about 300 RPM's whilst in gear sitting at a light or stop sign. I replaced the MAF sensor & the idle is still euchred. I have an OBD reader & after running the KOER test, it specifically references the IAC needing attention.I had a similar problem with a 5.0 motor explorer that was a vacuum hose that had worked itself loose. I am unable to find any hoses that may be loose causing a vacuum leak. I have a gut feeling, the mechanic did something to guarantee repairs for him, and a make work project. It feels like it wants to stall, as I am braking, and it hesitates when I hit the gas. It is not a smooth acceleration any more. It is a 4.6 l motor.
I even tried to discharge the diodes after checking out my symptoms on line.
To see if that would do a hard reset, bit got the big goose egg, no improvement. So any back yard DIYer's wanna offer any me another avenue to try. Pls and thanks.

Disconnecting the battery did no good. And as for the mechanic doing anything, it would have been with out my knowledge or permission. The PCM reset is what I meant by draining the diodes.

Remove and clean the throttle body then. Just need a throttle body gasket, can of throttle body cleaner and 20 minutes.

Follow the video though.

I have never re & re anything like that. Is there any way to just apply a can of spray cleaner to the throttle body w/o removing it. I saw the link you provided, thanks. BTW, I went to Rock auto & they do have an IAC valve for this vehicle. I saw on other other forum, a pic of were one member shows this part over the other side of the "4.6" housing. I cannot see it. The part from Rock Auto shows this part having a vacuum hose, for which also I can't fine. I have seen the part at another parts jobber, it's identical. So again, any help would help me out. Thanks.

Post a link to the part you found at RA. What's the month of production for your rig on the door sticker?

Doing the TB cleaning is very easy. You'll be proud of yourself when done.

To properly clean it, it needs to come off. For me, this will become part of my yearly maintenance plan.

Conversely, a shop should t charge more than 1/2 hours labor to do it.

It's re & re'ing that concerns me. Again never done this. It's botching it up & not getting being able to re install back into place.
I will get the door sticker info later, and post both. give me some time to locate that link I stated earlier. BRB.That have hr in labour, is that just for the spray cleaning? How long to re & re the TB?
