It won't hurt the truck to put it in 4x4 w/o the hubs locked....In fact it gives you a 2xlowrange that you can use when pulling something....example: you are pulling a dumba$$ back out of the ditch the dry pavement.
For the a '97 Sport, would these be the correct part numbers for the hubs and kit:

I was just a little confused because on 4wheelparts.com the description didnt list a '97 Explorer, is it the same as the Ranger?
Brian is right. 95+ Explorers have solid hubs. We can't convert over to manual hubs, unless Warn actually goes through with the rumored hub conversion kit. Unfortunately this was not mentioned at the SEMA show, so I don't guess it's gonna happen.
