lol, REAL cold air?

I was wondering...

Since MOST but not all cold air intakes consist of a steel/aluminum tube with air filter that sit IN the ENGINE bay, HOW would that be cold air?!

of course the ones that go into the tire well, without squeezing the tube to be super small are efficient air intakes...

my funny idea is the following:

Why not re-route a particular AC tube to a newly made hole behind the air flow sensor that would supply COLD air when you WANT it to?


would that be nice cold air that'd help the engine?


just my thoughts, I've always thought this was an idea...

ALSO where can I find a nice air intake for my 95' XLT that is less tha $100?

1) you can't input inmetered air into the engine. Bypassing the MAS makes things kinda screwy

heheheh.. that's a funny idea indeed.

re-routing the AC tube to bring air to the intake can bring you more trouble than goods.

would cutting off the muffler before the cat.converter and cutting out a ... 3 inch spot between fake unused remainder increase performance?

Forget running another a/c tube in there. A little silver sodering and you can put another evaporator in the air box.

Open exhaust after the cat will not benefit performance any more than a well tuned aftermarket muffler and tailpipe.

Would you ever regain the performance lost by the drag of the compressor with the cold air?

Well, most extra pullies on the motor are worth around 5 hp. On my truck, lowering my intake temp by 20 degrees gives me about 20 hp. On a mostly stock motor though, lowering the intake temp doesn't yield that kinda gain in power. So no, not worth it

why not just get a mini fridge, hardwire that into the electro, and stick the intake in that? lol
