Does anyone know of any way I can support a 19 foot microlight wing on the roof ?

Most microlighters use a ladder attached to the roof rack however as our racks don't actually come anywhere close to the front of the vehicle an awfull lot would be stuck out the back.

I need some way of supporting the front end of the wing......

All suggest is that you find two longer straight bits of say plastic pipe and cable tie it to the roof rails to extend it forwards-Think that will work- let us know! And why you moving just ONE wing? LOl!!!!

surely an ali ladder would be stiff enough to do the job would it not? if you tie it down to both rails it shoul not go any where and would be stiff enough to not bend where it projects over your bonnet.

:-D I'll be moving the whole plane... It's like a big Hangglider wing, tips fold into the center. the trike is on a trailer which does have a wing rack however it's designed to have the front of the wing hang over the the backend of the car, the Ex is i bit too tall :-(

only problem I can see with using a ladder is that there would be a good 7 -8 foot out front with no additional support, with my luck something expensive is going to break.

It's been suggested by a friend that I may be able to make a support from Dexion and attach that to the front bumper somehow.......hmmmm

well you could take the number plate off and use the holes as fixing points and just tie the number plate to the grill for the trip,if you do that you just need to make an A frame or x shape to support the front.

Great Idea Jay!!,

Thankyou

I have a tendancy to over think things sometimes :-)

why cant you fly there?

mick :D

Still learning, just went solo then ran out of money :-(

need to get it out of the hanger so I can actually afford to finish the training.
