1. what are these 3 gears called?

2. can you purchase them separately?

if im not mistaken, thats your reverse idler gear missing teeth, and judging from the damage, i would be worried about just slipping another gear in there and running it. the metal shavings proably killed your bearings.

btw how the h@ll did you do that?? put it into reverse on the freeway?

i was in a parking lot, i went to put it in reverse, and i heard a clunk... then i put it in 1st and it just locked up!!

Wow nice pics...Where did the teeth go?

they were in the bottom on the pan magnetized on the drain plug!!

Look for some rebuild kits on the net.

The tranny parts are not that expensive. Unless money is a real problem, do the full rebuild.. you only want to pull a tranny once. And yes, once you have metal shavings in the tranny its always smart to do the bearings.

i got a quote for an overhaul, 850 including all parts and labor..

rebuild kits run around 250. and the 3 gears are expensive, 70 60 55 so for 500 i could make an attempt to do it myself.. or i can have a reputable shop do it for the 850

$850 is unheard of. Very low, I would be wary of a price that low.

True, never thought of that.

Or find a used one! You ban inspect a manual when you buy it, and be pretty confident about condition.

I would just look around at salvage yards and pick up another low mileage trans... you would be money and time ahead cause with that much damage you should do a FULL rebuild.

salvage yards are asking 600+ for units with unknown mileage/wear.
i had one quote me over 1k for a used unit.
