lookin for some advice...

ok so my truck(94' 4x4) has been doin pretty good with the A4LD since i geared to 4.10 with 31's........i still notice on long hills and stuff my temp goes up and i was wondering how that is going to be on slow trail with lots of climbing (not as much flowing air) i could just get an aux fan to help things out at low speeds...and after these tires are done im going to 33x12.5 BFG AT's ....so that's also a factor in all my confusion (i will regear to 4.56's with the bigger tires)

in the future what would be the best direction to go for desert/trail driving? i wont be doing any rock climbing so a manual tranny is a possibility

i figure for wheeling its easier to build your truck around a tranny rather than an engine because you dont need monster HP just a nice solid/bullitproof driveline.

if i swap to a 5.0L i can use the 4R70W, the auto i hear is a really really nice trans ...i was thinking the advantage of the 5spd would be the lower 1st gear but i have a low range t-case...so that really helps eliminate the want for a manual 5spd.... it'd be nice to have that extra power from the v8 and the OD from that trans

I could use the 4.0 OHV because it will leave more space in the engine bay for suspension towers/braces and whatnot...my concern is auto trans options because i know the manual m50d has its weakness and the A4ld is just as weak and sucks out precious wheel hp.....if i go to c4/c5 trans i lose OD...i could live without it....but my top end will sit at a high rpm level, eww...

just lookin for advice and maybe someone can help put some sense into some of these options....i have been researching a BUNCH and this is where i am stuck...i am leaning towards the 4.0 option so i dont have to mess with too much wiring and i can keep my t-case....

thanks in advance,

Dave
