my name is jerry, im from the dayton ohio area, back in highschool i had an 89 bronco eddie bauer edition, it was a really fun truck but between all the rust and the cobbed up wiring from previous owners i decided to sell it with the intentions of buying another, but them i got bit bye the go fast bug and ended up dumping money into buying rwd V8 and rwd 4cyl turbo cars and kinda forgot about my old truck untill recently.
so i started looking around again and clean broncos seem to be kinda hard to come buy around here and are usually pretty expensive, not too mention the mpg kinda sucks. thats when i started finding cheap explorers and i really like the first gens but i started finding some cheaper early second gens also.
so my question is besides OBDII are there any major differences between the first and second gens? and do they both have about the same aftermarket availability?
i wont lie i mainly want a first gen because i think they look better, but i want a truck that is somewhat cheap to mod that i can take to some offroad trails on the weekend but still retain halfway decent street manners, and with gas prices the way they are i thought an explorer might be a little better choice than the bronco.
any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance!
