I have a '96 (2nd gen) explorer with the shorter console (not long like the Limited or Eddie Bauer) and it has the cloth armrest that sits on top.
The armrest is as the perfect height for when i'm doing some long driving and need to relax my arm, but the problem is that I have a lot little blonde girlfriend that loves to fool around in my truck, and the console does nothing but get in the way. I'll be removing the console tonight, but in hopes of finding another console that i can swap in.
I possess zero fabrication skills, so whipping up my own design is out of the question. I know the Ranger and Explorer are very similar, so maybe one of you have had an experience swapping the console out or can visualize it fitting in.
