Anyone have an unneeded factory 6.5" driver from the rear right cargo area of an explorer. Not the 8". Or has anyone replaced the 6.5" with a good aftermarket one?

What are you looking to do? Put it back to factory or replace it for better sound? If you are keeping it, I would suggest putting in a decent $25-$45 6.5" speaker from your local car audio shop. If your getting rid of it (God forbid), Radio shack has cheap speakers that will fit. Either way good luck to you!

Well I used to be a bit of a car audio guy, but I don't feel like modding the factory mounting box to fit an aftermarket speaker if I dont have to. Easiest thing would be to find a replacement factory one. It didn't sound bad when the surround was still in place! :)

When I took the fact. sub box out of the truck in my 94, the speaker was replaced with what looked to be a decent little door speaker. It didn't have any writting on it, but it sounded good enough, just not loud enough for my taste. There wasn't any mods to the factory housing itself, but they had to cut the plug off and splice the wires to fit the after market speaker. The speaker fit the housing just fine. Hope this helps you Druss.

i replaced mine with a 6.5 kicker shallow mount subwoofer, works great!!
