I am looking for opinions:

I have a:
1992 Ford Explorer xlt 172K miles
New Tires, replaced air condensor - compressor,
owned since 60k changed oil every 4,000-5,000, replaced seal between engine and trans, new shocks.

Needs brake job, and transfer case motor cleaning 4x4 siticking (read Explorer Maintenance web site for solution) Gas gauge does not work - float problem. Rear wiper broken, small amount of rust under rear passenger vehicles. I have never had a transmission problem with this vehicle)

My father just purchased a 2003 Ford AWD. He has offered me his old ford:

1993 Ford XLT, 203K miles on it.
He religiously changed oil every 3k, new fuel pump,
He has always driven very very conseratively and doubt the vehcile has been driver over 60mph. (senior citizen)

Needs tires, possibly brakes, vehicle "drips" oil - possibly from trans/motor seal ($100 repair job? that's what it cost on my 92 and was told a common problem with fords)

Should I take his old truck?

forgot

On the 1993, Air conditioner does not work. He's had it serviced and diagnosed serveral times. I suspect its the compressor even though he replaced it several years ago.

If the cost and repairs for his truck is less than, or the same as all repairs for your truck, I'd go with his. It sounds like his has fewer problems.

cost of repairs notwithstanding, I'm curious of opinions and if there might be known problems between the model years.
