'93 Explorer Limited Edit
Hey All,
New here and wondering how to upgrade a '93 Explorer limited to a badass offrad truck. I have been diassappointed with this truck with regards to its rugged toughness and offroad capability. I think that the shocks need replacement but think i should go for a lift at the same time. I also think I need a set of new tires (mean tires) and maybe some rims. I could also imagine something that would make the truck more waterproof for water rides, and maybe some low budget upgrades that would add power. maybe even a banks system or somthing (not that they're cheap)
thanks for your input.

Welcome to the board, there are many options and many different ways to go about modifying your truck. If you do a search you'll find alot of info to read and help you figure out what you want to do.

searched skyjacker. Would you buy 4 of the Skyjacker Dual Steering Stabilizers; or Skyjacker Softride Lift Coil Springs when are sold in quantities of 1, or would you only buy 2 for the front?

welcome
go with a lift kit,http://rockymountainsusp.com/ that is a good place to find one, go with a 4"-6" lift kit so then you can run 33x12.5r15" tires and then regear and add a locker

oh and this is very addicting! lol ive put all my money in to my explorer and dont have enough to put gas in it :thumbdwn:

thanks for the tips.
why would you recommend 3, 4, 6 inch lifts. I want to be able to hit at least the top end of the 60-70mph trucks, but i also want to rip it in the backwwods while camping (hip deap water/hills/obstacles. Also sould i be shootin for 33's or should i be shootin for something bigger like 36's or even 38"super swampers?
killer, thanks for the links. right on!

If you even begin to think about 36s-38s, you need to swap out that front end for a straight axle, b/c your Dana 35 won't be able to handle that large of a tire. If you want to still keep some power and more importantly keep the tranny, you will need to regear the front and rear axles to a lower gear ratio(numerically higher). Then the tire size and lift size is up to you and you wallet. :D BTW, Welcome to the site. :)

I think one of the important things to ask yourself is how much money do you want to spend on a truck that will probably last 10 more years. If you're loaded, go for it! But if you're like a lot of us and are on a set finnacial status, you need to really pick and choose. I'm a student and i have to worry about school as my main priority. It really just depends on what you want, but definitly look around on this site, you can find lots of info. Welcome to the site!

The second question to ask yourself is how hard and often are you going to wheel. Third question are going to try to build up the motor. If you can answer these three questions then you can make a plan of your modifications, come up with a budget and a schedule.
